Common questions
- I can't hear the binaural effect.
- Binaural beats work by playing a slightly different frequency in each ear, so your brain perceives the difference. That only happens over headphones — on a speaker the two channels mix in the air and the effect disappears entirely. Any wired or wireless headphones work.
- What should I set the carrier frequency to?
- The carrier is the tone you actually hear; the beat is the difference between the two ears. Lower carriers (160–200 Hz) feel warmer and suit sleep. Higher ones (220–240 Hz) feel more alert and suit focus. The built-in journeys use carriers in that range.
- Why does my meditation journey rise back up part-way through?
- That's deliberate. A long unbroken theta sit tends to tip into sleep, so some journeys pull gently back toward alpha at intervals to keep you present. If you would rather descend without interruption, build a journey with steps that only go down.
- Can I use a different scene for each part of a journey?
- Yes. Each step has its own Background setting — pick a scene, choose None to leave that stretch with just the tone, or leave it on Journey to carry the journey's default through.
- How do I restore a subscription on a new device?
- Open Settings and tap Restore purchases. Subscriptions are tied to your Apple Account, so as long as you are signed in with the same one it will come back.
- How do I cancel?
- Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Settings → Manage subscription opens your Apple Account subscriptions page, where you can cancel at any time.
- Is it safe?
- For most people, yes — it is only sound. But if you have epilepsy or a seizure disorder, talk to a doctor before using entrainment audio. Don't listen while driving or operating machinery, and keep the volume comfortable.
